Preliminary National Diploma (Pre-ND) Programmes

Philosophy & Objectives

The Pre-National Diploma (Pre-ND) programme is designed to prepare candidates for admission into the Polytechnic’s National Diploma (ND) programmes. It equips students who possess basic secondary school qualifications with the foundational knowledge and skills required to succeed in their chosen fields.

The programme combines formal lectures with practical sessions across relevant subjects. It also includes introductory vocational modules that expose students to technical and professional skills prior to ND-level studies.

Science and Technology-related courses are offered under the Science Laboratory Technology Department, while Management-related courses are handled by the General Studies Department.

Entry Requirements
Science and Technology Courses:

Applicants must possess at least four (4) passes in GCE, SSCE, or equivalent examinations including English Language and Mathematics, plus any two of the following: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Integrated Science.

Management Studies Courses:

Candidates should have four (4) passes in GCE, SSCE, or equivalent examinations including English Language and Mathematics, plus any two subjects from Economics, Commerce, Geography, Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, or Government.

For Office Technology & Management, acceptable subjects include Business Methods, Commerce, Typewriting, Shorthand, Literature in English, History, Religious Studies, Geography, and Mathematics.

National Diploma (ND) Programmes

Philosophy & Objectives

The National Diploma (ND) programmes aim to produce skilled technologists and technicians who can contribute effectively to industrial, scientific, and business sectors. The curriculum combines theoretical grounding with hands-on experience to meet industry demands and develop job-ready graduates.

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission into the National Diploma programmes, candidates must:

  1. Sit for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination and obtain an acceptable score in subjects relevant to their chosen programme.
  2. Possess at least four (4) credit passes in GCE O’Level, SSCE, or equivalent qualifications, obtained in not more than two sittings. Core subjects must include Mathematics and English Language, with additional credits relevant to the chosen field.
  3. Candidates with City & Guilds/WAEC Technical/NABTEB certificates in relevant trades may also qualify, provided they meet academic and technical requirements.
  4. Applicants who successfully complete the Polytechnic’s Pre-ND programme with the required grades are also eligible for admission.

Higher National Diploma (HND) Programmes

Philosophy & Objectives

The HND programmes are designed to produce higher-level professionals and instructors with advanced technical expertise and leadership skills required in science, technology, and management fields.

Approval for HND Banking and Finance is currently being processed with NBTE.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must hold a National Diploma (ND) with a minimum of Lower Credit in a relevant field and at least one (1) year of post-ND industrial experience. Candidates with a “Pass” grade may be considered after two (2) years of relevant work experience and upon meeting other academic requirements.

FEDPODAM Consults Programmes

The Polytechnic runs part-time and professional programmes under the FEDPODAM Consults — a limited liability company that provides flexible learning opportunities for working professionals and lifelong learners.
